“While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.” —Luke 9:43-45

Christ Jesus speaks to me, but that is not amazing, for Our Lord speaks to each and every soul on earth. Listen to Him, and know that His words are often hard to understand. Do not be content with merely hearing His voice; be brave enough to ask Jesus to explain the meaning of His message.

Once you ask Christ to explain, readily open your ears to hear. Rarely will He speak the answer with His own mouth. He explains the lesson He has placed in your willing heart through the mouths of other faithful souls around you. So, when you ask something of Christ, listen for a member of His Body to answer. Likewise, do not be afraid to tell others what Christ has taught you. You too are the Lord’s mouthpiece.
