Holy Bible, compass, and crucifix on a Europe map spread over a rustic wooden table

“Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.” —Luke 6:12-16

Jesus called each of them for a purpose. He knew them, their joys, and their hardships. He knew their talents and their weaknesses. The Father formed each of them in a specific way and for a specific reason, and the Spirit guided them along the Way. Each one had to decide whether to answer the call.

We are no different from them. Christ still calls, the Father still forms, and the Spirit still guides each of us for some specific purpose that is pleasing to the Lord. And each soul must still decide whether to answer Him or not.
