Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be. “The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light; but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.”—Matthew 6:19-23
Most of my life, my eye allowed in only the light reflected from the tinsel of the world, never noticing the stunning light of God reflected in the few good works I did accomplish. Then, one day, the Lord presented Himself to me as an indescribably beautiful ball of light, and He took me to Himself. God covered me with a glorious light that was like no other. Unlike the light of this world, God’s light was full of power, love, and mercy. That light chased away the darkness, trained my eyes to look past the twinkle of worldly tinsel, and focus on the only real treasure, the Light from Light, true God, from true God, Our Lord, Jesus.
Saints Gervase and Protase, pray for us.
Jesus, I trust in you.
