Holy Bible, compass, and crucifix on a Europe map spread over a rustic wooden table

Jesus said to his disciples: “You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”—Matthew 5:43-48

There was a time when I lived by the world’s standard, but when weighed against God’s Law, I came up lacking. I was subject to the just punishment I deserved. Yet Christ had mercy on me and freed me from that prison. Upon my return to this place, I realized I no longer had enemies; I had souls who needed my prayers.

I fear for those who disregard God and His Law. I pray for them each day, and offer my sufferings for their conversion. After suffering the justice I deserved, I returned, praying that no other soul would need to suffer as I did. I tell this story so people will realize that it isn’t by the world’s standards we will be judged. If there is still breath in you, there is enough time to change, still time to live as Christ commanded.
