Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. “I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.” —John 15:9-11
To remain in the love of God is to know complete joy, but to do this, we must see our lives through God’s eyes. If I look at my life through worldly eyes, I see a man who lost his career, his physical strength, and a life of wealth and leisure. But once the Lord lets you see yourself through His loving eyes, the world looks very different, and you’ll never look at life the same way again.
I see now the Lord allowed me to trade in a grand, worldly career for a humble, yet most rewarding job in His vineyard. I see where my physical strength, once a damning source of pride, is replaced by an even greater spiritual strength. My life of wealth and leisure has turned to a life of toil and pain. But this new life looks more like the life Jesus chose when He came to save us. It is a far better life than I deserve, or ever thought I would possess. The more I live as Jesus did, the more complete my life is. The more I live in the love of God, the more I see the gifts of life, and the more my joy is complete.
The Lord has always made it abundantly clear that the gifts and graces He shows this sinner are never intended just for me. What He gives me, the greatest of sinners, He gives to each soul. So ask God to let you see your life through His loving eyes.
