Daily Inspiration

At that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.” —Matthew 11:25-27

If anyone claims they understand the Holy Trinity, they most likely are not being truthful. In the presence of the Holy Spirit, I felt the love of the Father, the mercy of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit wash over me. I felt all of God poured out upon me through the Holy Spirit. In that ecstasy I exclaimed, ‘How easy it is to understand the Lord! It is so simple, even a three-year-old could understand!’

In His presence, God elevated my intellect so that comprehending His being was simple, simple enough that even a child could comprehend. Perhaps that is what Christ meant when he said the Father reveals things to the childlike. Sadly, that simplistic understanding remained with the Lord and did not return with me.

Lord God, may you allow each of us to know you not as a learned adult does, but as a simple child. Amen.
