Wednesday of the First Week of Advent

“Jesus summoned his disciples and said, "My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, for they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, for fear they may collapse on the way." The disciples said to him, "Where could we ever get enough bread in this deserted place to satisfy such a crowd?" Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" "Seven," they replied, "and a few fish." He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. They all ate and were satisfied. They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets full. -Matthew 15:32-37
 
Still, to this day, the hungry gather for Christ to feed them and give them Food for along the way home. In His ministry, Jesus repeatedly shows us the order of the Mass every time He feeds the multitudes or breaks bread with the Apostles. At Mass, in the Holy Eucharist, He feeds us in the same way. The Bread of Life Himself is the Food to sustain us along the Way.
 
This Advent, as you journey to Bethlehem, go to Mass and receive True Food and True Drink to sustain you along the Way. If you’ve never been to a Mass or it has been a while, go and see what you have been missing. Please be respectful and ask the priest beforehand what you must accomplish before receiving Our Lord in the Eucharist.
