"I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him." -Luke 10:21-22
As a child, I remember how long it took for the weeks leading up to Christmas to pass. As I grew older, took on more responsibility, and divided my focus on more things, the passing of those weeks began to speed up. I realize that Christmas Day will be upon me before I know it. I long to be like a child again and have what felt like an eternity to think about the coming gifts. Only now, my focus would not be on the gifts under the tree but on the Gift of a small Child born to save us.
Lord, let me become childlike, throw off my many distractions, and give my worry over to you. Let me use this Advent to prepare my soul and make room for You to come. Let me know you, as a tiny child, know his Father. Amen.
