“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” -Matthew 28:8-10
Fearful yet overjoyed. As the Resurrection played out, the apostles must have indeed been fearful. They did not have the benefit of their own writings to answer their questions. They had to be patient. They had to wait for Christ to fill in the details. As He did, their hearts grew bolder, and their faith strengthened every time they saw the risen Lord.
How blessed are we? There is no doubt. Christ comes into our lives and shows us great proof of His presence. The Scriptures written by eyewitnesses to His Resurrection answer our questions. All that is left is for us to be not afraid and go tell our brothers and sisters: He is risen! He is risen indeed. Hallelujah!
