“As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by waves; but he was asleep. They came and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" He said to them, "Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm. The men were amazed and said, "What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?" -Matthew 8:23-27
I used to believe that when the storms of life were crashing upon me, I stood alone against them. I know now, that if it were not for the Lord holding me safely in His hand, I could not stand at all, especially within the storm. The Lord our God is closest to us in the storms of life. Have faith, He loves you more than you love yourself, He is never asleep; Christ only waits for you to cry out to Him and ask Him to calm the raging storm.
Dear Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless our country and protect her from the storm that rages against her. We ask that You deliver us from the evil that has placed its grip upon our nation, and free us from the bondage that keeps her people enslaved. Open our hearts, so that once more we may see and feel Your grace and with faith cry out, Lord, save us! We are perishing! In Christ our Lord, we ask that you continue to bless America. Amen.
Wishing you a most blessed and reflective Independence Day!
