“Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of Caesarea Philippi. Along the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said to him in reply, “You are the Christ.” -Mark 8:27-29
If we are to live in the Divine Will, we must first truthfully answer Jesus’ question, ‘Who do you say I am?’ To proclaim Jesus is the Christ is to proclaim the Truth; He is the Son of God. He is always with you and sends the Advocate to help you. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and only through Him will we enter into eternity with the Father.
Suppose we understand that Truth, then we know the power of the Lord’s Prayer. In it, we testify to the Truth and ask for the grace to allow God’s will to guide our lives. We realize that Jesus gives us the map of the Way, and the Way is Him.
God’s will for us is to follow Christ on the narrow road to the Kingdom. But it comes down to a choice. We either rest easy in the Truth of who Jesus is and trust in God’s will, or we deny Christ and struggle to bring about our will.
