“After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they left their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.” -Mark 1:14-20
When I was in the Holy Spirit's presence, I understood that when Jesus walked this earth, His identity was often hidden from those around him. Yet, at certain times, He chose for some to see Him clearly. He allowed them to see Him as I did and then called them to follow.
For many, Christ is still hidden from their view. He asks us to make Himself known to the masses. He commands, ‘Go pass by the sea and show those still blind to My presence who I AM so that I may call them to me.’
When we share what God has done in our lives, when we share the message of the Gospel, we allow others to see Christ. We disburse the veil and encourage them to look up from their daily work. We awaken their hearts' senses so they, too, can see Christ standing by the sea's edge and hear Him calling to them, ‘Come follow Me.’
