“Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.” And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.” -Luke 19:45-48
Heavenly Father, at the moment of my conception, you reached from beyond all space and time to unite my soul to my body and have never let go. Through your touch, you have made me into your temple. But when I sin, I invite the thief to come in, which builds a callus separating my soul from your touch.
Through the sacrament of Reconciliation, I ask Jesus to enter into me, overturn the tables of my sin, drive the thief out of me, and tear away that callus. I ask Christ, my Savior, to send the Holy Spirit to make this temple a house of prayer once again. Amen.
Saint Cecilia, pray for us.
