Jesus said to his disciples: “Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants.” -Luke 12:15-21
The second coming of Christ will leave this world unrecognizable. Some look forward to that moment, while others fear it. Their contrasting attitudes may be seen in their answers to the question, "Are you ready today for the Lord's return?"
There is no light in our lamps except for the light God gives us. But when we ask Him to send the Holy Spirit down upon us, His light shines through us. In His light, we see the world for what it is. We know the world and her people desperately need the Master’s return.
There is only one who will upheave the world's disorder to place order, and it is Christ. There is nothing for us to fear in His coming again. He loves us more than we love ourselves and wants us to be with Him for all eternity. So, in that light, tighten your belts, be vigilant, and cry out to the Master, "Come, Lord Jesus, come!"
