Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. “Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. When they take you before synagogues and before rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what your defense will be or about what you are to say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say.” -Luke 12:8-12
It is easier to speak about God in a room full of believers than to say the same words when surrounded by those who only know the ruler of this world. But that is what Christ calls us to do.
The Holy Spirit has placed the truth in your heart and is your constant guide. He nudges you, asking you to spread His truth to all who will listen. The reward is small for only preaching to the choir. But there is a greater reward for speaking the Word to those who do not know God. We are rewarded for speaking, but more importantly, their reward is awakening to our merciful God.
Those who will not hear live the blaspheme of the Holy Spirit, refusing to know God’s mercy and refusing to repent of their sins. We must trust the Spirit will give us the words and then speak them to those who need to hear His truth.
