“Peter began to say to Jesus, "We have given up everything and followed you." Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first." -Mark 10:28-31
My life is very different now compared to seven years ago. Like many, I’ve lost some strength and height. I lost my career about fifteen years sooner than I thought I might, and I’ve given up some luxuries I once had. I was blessed to fly for a living, which was an absolute passion.
I’m often asked if it was hard to give it all up, but I don’t feel I’ve given up anything. I have a new boss now, who loves me and whom I love deeply. He makes all things great and provides everything that I could ever need.
The shine and tinsel of this world are not real or worthy of our desire. Working the soil for the Lord to bring in His harvest is worth infinitely more than all the riches in the world. I am one of the blessed who can honestly say by following Christ, I’ve given up nothing and gained everything.
