“People were bringing children to Jesus that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” Then he embraced the children and blessed them, placing his hands on them." -Mark 10:13-16
I spent over thirty years piloting planes, my mission being to guide them safely around the world. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard the saying, “God is my copilot.” I bet that whoever came up with that horrible advice was an adult. If God is your copilot, you have it all wrong.
I once looked at my accomplishments with the eyes of a man, believing that my skill, knowledge, and talent made me a successful pilot. But my life changed in the most drastic of ways, and God showed me He had a different mission for me. Now, I have no training to fall back on, and I depend 100% on God to provide what is needed to complete His work. Like a child, I must rely solely on God.
For most of my life, I was the captain, steering my own course. Occasionally, I’d let the Creator of the universe have a short turn at the controls, but I always thought I was in charge.
Christ gave me the grace to see I am only a child; God is my captain, and I am His copilot.
