“Peter approached Jesus and asked him, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.” -Matthew 18:21-22
We must cast aside our pride, view ourselves in truth, and weigh ourselves against God before the Lord can live within us. Humility draws us close to Christ and makes the enemy scatter.
Knowing the Lord means knowing He is God and we are not. All He has given us still belongs to Him; without Him, we have nothing. To understand this is to realize that if we surrender our pride and replace it with humility, there can be no personal offense against us in the first place. Therefore, forgiveness comes easy if we can not be offended because there is nothing to forgive.
To live in His peace is to realize that the only things that offend us now are our own offenses to God, which only He can forgive.
