“Since the children share in blood and flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abraham; therefore, he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.” -Hebrews 2:14-18
Many of my friends suffer, so today, I’d like to ask for prayers for all my friends who are being tested. A few days ago, I sent the following message to a friend in need. It would seem it was written to go with today’s reading.
"The Lord is closest to us in our times of despair and tragedy. He holds us tighter than before and says, "I am here." To be held by the Lord is the greatest of blessings because He showers His mercy on those who are struck the hardest in this fallen world. You may not be able to feel Him right now, and while I cannot explain how, I can."
I can feel Him holding you and your family in the firmest embrace as His love pours out upon you. I pray that you, too, may feel Christ's peace today.
