“Then they came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!" Jesus rebuked him and said, "Quiet! Come out of him!" The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. All were amazed and asked one another, "What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him." His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.” -Mark 1:21-28
One of the enemy’s many lies is that he has the power to do to us what he will, but that is merely another lie. The enemy is subject to the authority of God and has no power other than what God has granted him. Even the attacks of the demons are part of God’s plan for our salvation.
God used the demons to announce who Jesus was to the world, and in their humiliation, they were forced to speak truth and give praise to the Lord. God allows the movements of the enemy in our lives, too. We must have faith and know that all things from God are directed to the greater good for our salvation.
When you see the works of the enemy in your life, give praise and thanks to God. With every step we take closer to the Lord, the enemy tries to trip us. God allows the disruptions and advancements of the enemy to strengthen our resolve. Their assault reminds us that with every step we take on God’s path, we grow closer to the Holy One of God.
