“The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him. A crowd seated around him told him, "Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you." But he said to them in reply, "Who are my mother and my brothers?" And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother." -Mark 3:31-35
Jesus invites us to live in intimacy with the Holy Trinity. When we live by the Father’s desire for us, abandoning our own will and adopting His, He showers us with grace. Christ, our God, Savior, and Brother, welcomes those who do the will of the Father into the Holy Family as adopted children of God.
That is how the Lord wishes it, but when I examine my life, can I honestly say that I’ve done the will of my Father? Jesus tells us that it is a requirement to be called a member of His family.
Lord Jesus, Son of the ever-living God, help me to receive the Father’s grace poured out upon me. Help me to adopt the Father’s will as my own so that I may find my way home to the Father who wishes to adopt me. Amen.
