“Jesus came with his disciples into the house. Again the crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.” -Mark 3:20-21
It seems Jesus hid His identity, even from His closest relatives. They struggled to comprehend that God was working in their midst and raged because of their disbelief.
To follow in Christ, we too should expect such treatment when we proclaim the Good News of the Lord aloud. I know I have been incredibly blessed. The Lord has shown me truths and spurs me to share those truths with others.
It is not lost on me of who I am. I am the most unworthy, just some punk kid from Hopewell, PA, yet the Lord places in my mouth words that surely do not come from my mind. Some would say that is the blessing, but it is only a part. The most profound gift is that my friends and relatives have never rejected me nor turned hostile toward my message. A grace that Jesus did not afford Himself.
The Lord gives me words to speak, and I speak them freely without fear because those closest to me still welcome me with open arms. Thank you all for the comfort you provide.
May God continue to bless us, and may we all feel comfort speaking about our Lord. -Amen
