“Jesus said to his disciples, "A rich man had a steward who was reported to him for squandering his property. He summoned him and said, 'What is this I hear about you? Prepare a full account of your stewardship, because you can no longer be my steward.'"-Luke 16:1-2
One day we will be called to report on what we have done with the property that God gave us to cultivate. Everything we have comes from God; everything. While we are eager to receive the physical gifts, we often neglect to care for or accept the spiritual ones, the gifts most valued by our Lord. If we allow them to lay dormant, and go unused God calls them back and gives them to someone who will care for and make use of His property. When we stand before the Lord we will hear one of two things, either, ‘Prepare a full account, because you can no longer be my steward’, or ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’ Look at yourself through His eyes, if He called you today, which greeting would you hear?
