“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. A good person out of the store of goodness in his hear produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.”– Luke 6:43-45
Recently I started a new career, which requires a large amount of training. Maintaining the school and study schedule has been eating greatly into my prayer and family life, and I let God know that I was concerned I may have chosen the wrong path.
Within the first few days, I found myself talking to my new boss over lunch, and telling him how Jesus awakened me by using that auto collision years ago. He proceeded to tell me about how Christ is working in his life as well. The next day that conversation sparked an interest among my fellow new hires. I told them we talked about God. The next moment, several shared a quick version of how God is working in their lives.
Later that night, as I thanked God for the opportunity to talk about Him that day, a thought came into my mind. What if it isn’t necessarily what we are doing in life, but rather how we are using those moments to glorify God? Maybe it is as simple as the idea that we are exactly where God needs us at this moment, and it is up to us to use that time and place for His purpose.
By the Grace of God may He make us a good tree, and through our faith in Christ may we produce good fruit wherever we find ourselves rooted. Amen.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.”– Matthew 7:24
