“Jesus told his disciples a parable. “Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the Kingdom of God is near. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” -Luke 21:29-33

The Word of God is as true today as it ever was. The sentences on the page have a deeper meaning and are more profound than they seem on the surface. As you read Scripture, let it envelope you. Contemplate that every word was uttered by God, not for humanity in general, but specifically for each individual, and for that particular moment in time. The Word was spoken by God, for you.

Societal norms may change, but the foundation of the world, built upon the Word, is never-changing. Once we allow Scripture to overtake our senses, it carries us ever deeper into the mind of God, and we see each verse burst open like a springtime bud. Then we see that our time in this world is but a moment, and our gaze is fixed on the path the Lord has laid out before us. Then we understand the Kingdom of God is much closer than we first believed.
