“God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission. I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good; I shall do His work.”

— St. John Henry Newman

As the new year sets in, I am looking for the next task in my life that the Lord has placed before me. I have yet to discover what He has assigned to me, but I ask Him, Mary and Joseph, the saints, and my angel to guide me. In reality, that is all any of us can do. Align our Will to His, and rely on His blessed help, so that we may discover and then complete the tasks He gives to us.

“And I heard the voice of the LORD saying: “Whom shall I send?” and, “Who will go for us?” And I said: “Here I am. Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

I have decided it isn’t too late for one more New Year’s Resolution. Every morning, I will tell the Lord, “here I am. Send me.”

May God guide you in the work He has committed to you.
