May 2, 2024Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. “I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.” -John 15:9-11
There was a time when I thought it impossible to keep all the commandments, and I looked at them as a list of Don’ts. The enemy whispered lies to make me believe following the commandments meant missing out on life.
As I have slowly surrendered my life more and more to Our Lord, I realize that the commandments are not a list of Don’ts. They are a list of actions that, when engaged in, now disgust me. I understand the enemy’s lies that there is happiness away from the commandments only lead me into despair and separation from God.
True happiness and joy come from God's love; His commandments give us a path to His love. Ignore the whispered lies, surrender yourself fully to God, and experience true happiness living in the joy of Christ.
He is risen! He is risen indeed. Hallelujah!
