“The LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying: Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky! But Ahaz answered, “I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!” Then Isaiah said: Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary people, must you also weary my God? Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us!” -Isaiah 7:10-14;8:10
Today, we will all look to the sky and watch the wonders of creation. No other planet in the universe has been gifted with the distance and proportions needed for its sun and moon to create a total eclipse like ours has.
As you watch this celestial event unfold, turn your thoughts to the more impactful event of a young girl’s fiat, her yes, which fulfilled salvation prophecy and changed history. Contemplate how the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary as you watch the moon overshadow the sun. Because of her simple yes, Jesus was born, and salvation became possible.
Today, God shows us a crown He crafted in the sky fit for our queen. While it might be impossible to imagine the glory of Christ’s crown, it may be easier to imagine our own. What is the Lord asking of you, and are you ready to give Him your own fiat and accept the crown He has crafted for you?
