“There was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him." Jesus answered and said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother's womb and be born again, can he?" Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I told you, 'You must be born from above.' The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” -John 3:1-8
Earlier, we read of Mary Magdalen being reborn as she peered into the empty tomb and realized Jesus had risen from the dead. She cried because the enemy's assault was finally thwarted, exposing his lies to all who want to see.
To be born from above is to be given the grace to know that the tomb is not a final resting place but only a step before entering the Kingdom. For those graced with this metanoia, it is as if they are born again and see with the new eyes of a baby. They see that the Kingdom is already here, and nothing will ever be the same.
For those who are born again from above, the quest becomes to awaken the world to the Truth of Christ—that He was born, suffered, died, and rose again. Jesus is here with you now, and He has sent the Holy Spirit to guide you. There is no need to believe the lie of the enemy urging us to fear the tomb. It is a blessing to know that Christ Jesus has taken away the sting of death, turning it into a new birth.
Hallelujah, He is risen! He is risen indeed, Hallelujah!
