“Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, 'You will become free'?" Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free. I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you. I tell you what I have seen in the Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the Father.” -John 8:31-38
The enemy leads us into sin by telling us lies and fooling us into doubting the Truth of Our Lord. The enemy makes us believe this is the time and place to gain our reward, justice, and wealth. The enemy’s whispers fill our ears so we may not hear God’s Truth.
On occasion, the Lord has called me away from this world, and each time, while only a moment passed here, it seemed as if decades passed in that other world. This morning, I did the math. If a second in this world seems like ten years there, and if one were to live 80 years, it would seem as if 2.6 trillion years passed there. As unfathomable as that number may be, trillions of years will be nothing compared to an eternity with no end.
The enemy deceives us into believing it is too hard to remain in Christ’s Truth, tempting us to live in our own. But to deny Christ is to trade an eternity of Joy, living as a child in the Father’s house, only to become a slave to the enemy for all eternity, for a mere second of false pleasure in this world.
