Jesus said to his disciples: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asked for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asked for a fish? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him. "Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.” -Matthew 7:7-12
Would you like to achieve 100% success with answered prayer? Would you like your life to become infinitely more manageable than it is now? If it seems you pray and pray, but His answer is always, “No,” perhaps it isn’t Him; it’s you. You need to live and pray in The Divine Will.
The above paragraph sounds like the beginning of a cheesy infomercial, and for some, I am trying to persuade you to try something new, by surrendering to the Divine will. When you pray, ask God only for what He knows you and those you pray for need. He always answers that prayer with a “Yes.” And not only does He answer, but He gives more than was expected, 100% of the time.
Living and praying in the Divine will still allows us to wade a little further out, asking for more than what we need and adding requests for the things we want. When we ask for those additional wants, we finish by affirming our submission, “Not my will, but Yours.” Remember, good prayer is more than a list of wants and desires. The most important part of prayer includes thanksgiving, praise, love, and worship of the Lord. When we withhold those parts, we behave as spoiled children, who only bark out demands.
Saint Euphrasia, pray for us.
