“The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him. A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you.” But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.” -Mark 3:31-35
No one has ever followed the will of God better than His mother, Mary. Following closely behind were the Apostles and women who gave up everything to walk with Jesus.
In this passage, Jesus invites each of us into His family. He tells us that when His Father calls, and we get up to follow His will, we too become mothers, brothers, or sisters of Christ.
Lord God, may we answer the call to do your will so that we may become family of the Most Holy Trinity. Lord, send down your Spirit to strengthen and guide us. May we accept the grace to submit our will to yours so that Christ, Jesus, may call us His mother, brother, or sister. Amen.
