“Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” -Matthew 6:19-21
An excerpt from “The Mystic Next Door: The Triumph of the Cross”
“I moved through much of my life without concern for building those treasures I desperately needed. I understand that any good I do now comes purely by the grace of God. Any spark I light, or soul I guide to the salvation of Christ comes not from me but rather from the Lord.
…I asked the Lord to apply any treasures I may have stored through my apostolate toward the souls I’ve touched along the way. I lovingly offer my brothers and sisters my treasures in heaven. The Lord has gifted me with so much, and the Lord knows there was a time when I desperately needed treasures in the Kingdom, so now I give my treasures to those the Lord has touched through me. Christ did all the heavy lifting anyway, and He is the one who helps the people that I encounter. It seems unfair that I should take credit.
I trust in the divine justice of the Lord because I have already seen it with my own eyes. My judgment was just and deserving, and I agreed that I belonged in that place of eternal regret. I have also felt our Lord’s divine love and mercy and wanted nothing more than to remain with Him forever…”
