“Some in the crowd who heard these words of Jesus said, "This is truly the Prophet." Others said, "This is the Christ." But others said, "The Christ will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not Scripture say that the Christ will be of David's family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?" So a division occurred in the crowd because of him. Some of them even wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him. So the guards went to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, "Why did you not bring him?" The guards answered, "Never before has anyone spoken like this man." So the Pharisees answered them, "Have you also been deceived? Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd, which does not know the law, is accursed." Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him earlier, said to them, "Does our law condemn a man before it first hears him and finds out what he is doing?" They answered and said to him, "You are not from Galilee also, are you? Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” Then each went to his own house.” -John 7:40-53
Suddenly, many new friends are listening to my message, and this daily Scripture verse could not have come at a better time. But isn’t that always how God works in our lives, with perfect timing?
My new friends may wonder who I am, so today, I’ll take the time to share the answer. I’m nobody. I’m no man, but instead, I’m lower than dirt. I give myself as a slave to my Lord Jesus, unworthy of His slightest glance. I am the lowliest of servants to the Great I AM.
I'm only a tool who speaks the words he hears the Holy Spirit whisper. But Our Lord has chosen the dullest tool in the shed to do His work. Sometimes, I get the words wrong or struggle to clarify things I don’t understand.
The purpose of this apostolate is to awaken people to God's presence in their lives. It should draw you deeper into Scripture and help you contemplate God in a more meaningful way. It is supposed to help you focus more on Our Lord and less on yourself and worldly glitter. The Church does not require us to believe the personal revelation of another for good reason. Always discern where the message comes from, and turn to Scripture for answers. If Scripture does not prove the message, then forget it.
I pray you constantly evaluate our relationship as you would any other. Place the Lord first in everything, and the rest will fall into proper order. If I am not helping you move closer to the Lord, please turn away from my words and run to the safe embrace of Christ. Either way, it is a win because I desire each soul to rest upon the Heart of Jesus.
