Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.” -Matthew 5:17-19
Jesus says that not the smallest part of the law is to end, even after He fulfilled it. The Law of Moses still requires us to lift up sacrificial offerings to the Lord. Through the sacrifice of the Mass instituted by Jesus on Holy Thursday, we satisfy the sacrificial offerings required by the law.
We offer our bread, wine, and very souls to God as we say, “Lift up our hearts; we lift them up to the Lord.” We commemorate the Lamb’s offering of Himself as the perfect sacrifice. We exit time as heaven comes down and touches Earth. We live in the true Presence of God, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, and we receive Him into our bodies and souls.
The Sacrifice of the Mass is the required offering of the law.
