Jesus said to his disciples: “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. “If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” -Matthew 6:7-15
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Can I honestly say I accept God’s will to guide my life, or do I default to my own?
Understand that the Creator of the universe, who reaches from beyond time and space, holds our souls in His hand. He has designed a path that leads us back to Him because He desires us, His adopted Children, to live with Him for all eternity. He has seen every step, from our first to the last, and His plan accounts for each.
Yet, knowing all that, I say: Yes, but I think I will do it my way instead.
Imagine what the world would look like if we truly accepted God’s will into our lives. Now imagine a world where everyone did.
