“The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him. After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: "This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." -Mark 1:12-15
The Spirit drives us, too, out into the desert, for it is a barren place where we can be alone with the Lord. From within our trials, God sends His angels to minister to us. This is the time and place where we are closest to the Lord.
From the midst of our desert, if we look with the eyes of our soul, we see we are held safely in the lap of our Lord. We see past all the temptations of the enemy. What more could we ever wish for?
