"Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." -Mark 16:15-18
The Lord has sown His seed in you, rocky ground or fertile soil; it is there waiting to sprout. Jesus commissions us to go into the world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Today is a good day to start if you haven’t already, but I know how difficult speaking to strangers can be.
There is a sentence in that passage that I never gave much thought to until today. My heart burns with a desire to tell others the Good News, but I don’t always have an audience to share the message with. In those instances, I share the Gospel with my pets. I’ve been “Teaching” my furry family members about the Holy Trinity for years when I lacked a less hairy audience. They are good listeners and seem to love hearing about their Creator.
If talking about God to others makes you nervous, try practicing on one of God’s more loving creatures first. Then go out into the world and spread the seed the Lord has given you…With people…You can’t just talk to animals all day.
