“Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him. He appointed Twelve, whom he also named Apostles, that they might be with him and he might send them forth to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.” -Mark 3:13-15
It is said that the Apostles’ power to drive out demons came from the authority Jesus gave to them to preach His Truth. Likewise, I’ve read the words of a wise saint (of course, I can not remember who) who said, “Speak the Truth and watch the devil flee.” That quote may be based on James 4:7: “So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
The enemy hates the Truth. He was an elevated being who lived in the presence of God. He knew the Truth, and that the power of the Lord could never be defeated, yet in his pride, the enemy chose to rebel and was cast down. Perhaps Truth was the explosive force that caused him to fall from Heaven like lightning from the sky.
Still today, the enemy is scalded by the Truth and cannot bear to hear it. Speak the Truth of the Lord, with the love of God in your heart, and watch the devil flee.
