“Jesus came to Capernaum with his followers, and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.” His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.” -Mark 1:21-28
The father of lies wants us to believe he has power like God, but the enemy is merely another of God’s creatures. I have seen the power of the Lord, and only a fool would try to fight against it.
The enemy is limited to acting as only the Father allows and remains still as subject and servant to the Lord. And through the power of God, the least in the Kingdom of Heaven is more powerful than all the evil combined.
Yet, a battle rages for our souls, and the enemy tries to fool us into believing we are alone. But Christ is there with us. He rests easy on that battlefield because the Lord has full authority over Heaven, Earth, and all of His creatures.
Lord Jesus, I invite you into my heart. Drive out the evil that resides there, and may your light remain there with me instead. Amen.
