Jesus said to his disciples: "I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth, so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones. If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth, who will trust you with true wealth? If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours? No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." -Luke 16:9-13
Change begins with the small things and the building of a strong foundation. If we invite Christ to work with us in small matters, we’ll discover that He is still there with us for the larger ones. When we root even our mundane tasks in the Lord, our deepest desires change. Where once our possessions owned us, we find the roles have changed. When we allow Christ to dwell within us in matters great and small, instead of wealth driving us to support and increase itself, our Love for Christ drives us to use our wealth to support and increase the lives of others. Jesus transforms us from servants of wealth to masters of it, and through that transformation, He helps us become eager servants of God.
