“Jesus said to them, "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.' Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” -Luke 10:13-16
I have seen mighty deeds, no doubt, and yet I still sin. It is in our nature to sin, but we must desire to be freed from that muck, by repenting, changing, and taking the hand of salvation that the Lord offers. Once we see how easily Jesus pulls us to safety, we must eagerly reach for Christ's salvation every time we find ourselves back in the swamp. And once we have felt His grace, we must offer our hand to all those who are still stuck in the swamp of sin. If not you and me, then who is going to proclaim the salvation from sin that Christ offers to us all? It is between the sinner and Savior whether they accept or reject His hand, but Christ asks us to tell them of the mighty deeds He has done for us, and that He waits, hands extended, to free them from the trap of sin.
