“Brothers and sisters: I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his Body, which is the Church, of which I am a minister in accordance with God's stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God, the mystery hidden from ages and from generations past. But now it has been manifested to his holy ones, to whom God chose to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; it is Christ in you, the hope for glory. It is he whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. For this I labor and struggle, in accord with the exercise of his power working within me." -Colossians 1:24-29
St. Paul often speaks of the need to suffer, with Christ, and to bring our suffering in line and enjoin it with Christ’s Passion. Twenty-two years ago today, great suffering was forced upon our nation. Let us pray today for the souls lost on that dreadful day, and for their mourning families.
Within my suffering of that day dwells another suffering harder to take than the first. Consider how Jesus asked the Father to forgive the men who were crucifying Him. So, through gritted teeth, I give up my desire for human justice and ask the Father to forgive and have mercy on the men who slaughtered those 2,996 innocent people on September 11, 2001.
Again today somewhere around 2,000 innocent Americans will be slaughtered. Same as yesterday, and tomorrow. The CDC says that today we will pass the 495,000th death this year from the human sacrifice known as abortion. Let us pray for the victims of this heinous crime. Let us also pray for all the souls who perpetrate these crimes, the mothers and fathers, the lowest employee to the highest politician and everyone in between. Let us ask the Lord to touch their hearts, bring them into reconciliation with God, and end the desire for the child sacrifice known as abortion. And may God have mercy on me, for not storming the streets, wailing for our lost children, and demanding that these sacrificial altars of the enemy, be shut down forever. 2,000 children murdered today, tomorrow, and the next day. All week, all month, all year, and I sit quietly in my home. Father forgive me.
