“Some Pharisees approached Jesus, and tested him, saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?" He said in reply, "Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.” -Matthew 19:3-6
God has placed a great spiritual power within the sacrament of marriage between a man and a woman. True marriage stands as an earthly example for us of the union of the Holy Trinity, and the perfect love of the Father and Son for each other, then personified in the Holy Spirit. Again, marriage stands as an example of the ever exchanged love between Christ the Bridegroom and His bride the Church. Marriage was designed by God as a means to help lead us to a better understanding of Him. This is why the enemy battles so hard to destroy and pervert this holy institution. Today, let us pray for all men and women bonded together in the sacrament of marriage, that the Lord will protect them from the evil who seeks to destroy them, and that in their love for each other, they may come to a deeper knowledge and love of the Lord. Amen.
