“Ah! Those who call evil good, and good evil, who change darkness to light, and light into darkness, who change bitter to sweet, and sweet into bitter! Ah! Those who are wise in their own eyes, prudent in their own view! Ah! Those who are champions at drinking wine, masters at mixing drink! Those who acquit the guilty for bribes, and deprive the innocent of justice!” -Isaiah 5:20-23
We live in a time when so many reject the Truth and are in desperate need of guidance. Yet before we approach our brothers to show them their faults, we must be sure we are walking in the shadow of our Lord, ourselves. As we follow the Lord more closely, we see a change in ourselves, that others will see as well. This outward change is the catalyst, that sparks that conversation with our brothers. Even after we show and speak to them, not all will listen. Christ does not command that we change them, only that we exhaust all means possible to bring them back to His forgiveness and salvation. But first, we must change ourselves.
Jesus said to his disciples: "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won over your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell the Church. If he refuses to listen even to the Church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.” -Matthew 18:15-17
