“When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I will do it. Be made clean.” His leprosy was cleansed immediately.” Matthew 8:1-3
Time and again in the Gospels, Jesus heals the sick and suffering who are near Him. Have you ever pondered those who were healed? They suffered lives of desolation and loneliness because of their infirmities and were thus tortured by both the illness and the resulting isolation. They looked to Jesus as their only hope of salvation, and without His touch, they would be lost. Many came to Him and fell to their knees. They did not lower themselves easily but dropped in complete surrender, with the faith that He alone could save them. We have so much to learn from these blessed people. Imagine how Christ would heal and cleanse us if only we approached Him, as they did.
